Most Cease & Desist letters are worded very strongly and include deadlines. They will often make demands–such as reporting your sales and remaining inventory.
You will have limited choices. It is possible to handle this yourself but it can be risky and is not recommended. An exception might be if the other side is simply mistaken about their accusation. For example: Let’s say that your accuser has a design patent for a wristwatch but you are selling kitchen appliances and not timepieces. In that case, you might be able to alert the other party of this point. *If you’ve been served with a lawsuit, this won’t work—no matter how far-fetched their claim may be.
